Fra le arti performative dal vivo la danza è quella che, per certi versi meglio delle altre, spiega il processo evolutivo dell’arte, del suo rapporto con la società e con le sue forme di rappresentazione simbolica. Basti pensare, in estrema sintesi, a un percorso che parte dal corpo in funzione rituale e comunitaria nella cultura antica a oralità primaria, passando per la codificazione della danza accademica e del balletto classico fino alle trasformazioni radicali della danza moderna, ai suoi protagonisti e alla varietà di forme e contenuti che il “genere” ha saputo rappresentare e che la danza contemporanea ha ereditato.
Tanto da riuscire a dare corpo – nel senso di un “essere corpo” che s’impone sull’“uso del corpo” – alla dimensione processuale dell’arte e della performance, attraversando i linguaggi, le affordance mediali, ma anche indagando il rapporto con il video e con le arti elettroniche, fino a comporre un ecosistema complesso e affascinante. In regards to live performance arts, dance is the form that best depicts the evolution of art, its relationship with society and its symbolic representation.
One can imagine a path, which starts with the body as a having ritualistic and community orientated function in ancient culture and primitive orating, which then passes through the codification of academic dance and classical ballet and finishes with the radical transformations of modern dance, with its protagonists and variety of forms and content represented by the “genre” and which contemporary dance has inherited. So much so that it has given a body (in the sense of a “corporeal being” which imposes itself on the “use of the body”) to the dimension of the artistic and performance process, crossing languages and media, but also exploring the connection between videos and electronic arts, thereby composing a complex and fascinating ecosystem.
